Background

This was one of the first songs I ever released publicly, back when I was still figuring out the structure of a song. The original version (on SoundCloud) sounds a bit different—I hadn’t yet grasped the idea of layering or distinct sections. I just kept singing, letting it pour out. Looking back, even in its raw form, there was a thread of meaning running through the lyrics. It was definitely the beginning of something.

I pulled it off SoundCloud a few times, actually, I just kept tweaking it. I knew it didn’t sound quite right, but each time I removed it, people would ask me what I had changed. That curiosity let me know there was something there. Eventually, I realized the next step had to be purchasing the beat and reworking the song using the original vocals. This time, I gave it structure. Something with rhythm, intention, and flow. But I kept the heart of the song.

I also wanted to experiment more with my voice. I started playing with higher vocal ranges, inspired by the incredible Minnie Riperton and her ability to reach those ethereal notes. I’m no Minnie—but discovering that I had more vocal range than I thought was exciting and opened up a new side of my sound.

The lyrics for this song were deeply inspired by psychedelic experiences I’ve shared with men I’ve loved. There’s something uniquely raw and intimate about those moments—when you're cracked open emotionally and mentally, stripped of ego, and you just talk. Hours pass like seconds. You speak from places in the heart you didn’t know existed, diving into each other's depths. In those moments, it feels like time disappears—like you’re suspended in your own universe, just the two of you, discovering life for the first time.

That feeling... it’s like stepping into your own Garden of Eden. The psychedelic space becomes a sacred environment, where thoughts, sensations, and emotions bloom freely. That’s what I wanted to capture in this song—an emotional and spiritual high. Something both surreal and grounding.

The beat evoked that instantly. There was a softness, a kind of ethereal glow that made me feel like I was floating. When I heard the strings, I knew I wanted to match them with layered high vocals and deep reverb—to recreate that dreamy, almost cloud-9 feeling. I wanted the music to feel like drifting… like you’re being gently pulled into something deeper and warmer.

Lyrically, I kept it simple and honest. Lines like “love the way you make me feel / this just can’t be real” came straight from that heart-centered space. When you’re in a moment like that—when your body is buzzing, your soul is soft, and your connection with someone is electric—it’s not about perfect words. It’s about feeling.

The chorus—“make me feel so amazing”—isn't just about pleasure; it's about presence. That surrender. That emotional nakedness. The vulnerability of eye contact that says more than words. I wanted the listener to feel that emotional rush, that tenderness, that aliveness.

This song is about connection, yes—but also about altered states that bring us closer to truth. Psychedelic love as both mirror and medicine. A fantasy that feels too good to be real… and yet, it is.

the shivers of your fingers tells me how you really feel

stripped of your defenses lets take it slow
